Chipotle

Chipotle is one of the best places to eat out if you are allergic to gluten. Therefore, I am a total Chipotle junkie. Most of the employees at my local Chipotle(s) know me and my family well. They'll even be surprised if I come in earlier than normal. The great thing about Chipotle is that the only thing off limits are the flour tortillas and garden blend (select locations), and the only two things that may potentially have gluten are the red tomatillo salsa and corn salsa. Chipotle is also one of the best places to control your calories. They make it really simple for you too, since you can put in your order online or through their app. Here are a few tricks I have learned (and they are always highly accommodating):
  • Feel like having sour cream or guacamole? Ask for it on the side (if ordering online or on the app, put this in the notes). Dip tacos into it or limit the amount going into the bowl.
  • Feel like having chips? Opt for crispy taco shells instead (if ordering online or on the app, place the order for a bowl and ask for crispy taco shells on the side in the notes)
  • Chips (4 oz): 570 cal, 27g fat, 3.5g sat. fat, 73 carbs, 8g fiber vs.
  • Crispy taco shells (3): 180 cal, 6g fat, 1.5g sat. fat, 27 carbs, 3g fiber
Another way to add flavor to your Chipotle without adding too many calories: add Taco Bell hot sauce.

  3. I enjoy going to my local Chipotle, they are very good and don't even bat an eye when I tell them I have wheat and gluten issues and ask them to change gloves.

  4. That's great, they seem to be well trained with handling allergies and cross contamination.
