One of the hardest things about being gluten free is sometimes if you really want "normal" foods such as pancakes, you have to use premade mixes (my favorite is Bisquick) because there are not very many gluten free frozen versions on the market. That's why I was in heaven when I was at my local Whole Foods and came across Julian's Recipe gluten free frozen pancakes in 3 flavors: Belgian Chocolate, Wild Blueberry, and Buttermilk. I immediately stocked up and am pleased to find all 3 flavors are amazing! I have tried my fair share of frozen gluten free products and am disappointed when the idea sounds great but they end up being dry. However, I am happy to report these pancakes are moist and have an excellent flavor, you would not even know they are missing the gluten.

Do the pancakes say wheat free and gluten free
ReplyDeleteThey do not say 'wheat free' directly but since gluten includes wheat, barley, and malt this would mean they are also wheat free. Here are the ingredients off the chocolate chip pancakes box:
ReplyDeleteButtermilk (cultured pasteurized grade A low fat milk, salt, guar gum, carrageenan, carob bean gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D), water, whole grain brown rice flour, Belgian chocolate (cocoa, sugar, lecithin [soy], natural vanilla flavor), evaporated cane juice, eggs, tapioca starch, corn starch, canola oil, whole grain teff flour, whole grain sorghum flour, whole grain millet flour, flaxseed meal, sodium acid pyrophosphate, potato starch, sodium bicarbonate, dried egg, natural vanilla flavor, sea salt, gums (xanthan and guar) mono calcium phosphate. Contains: Egg, milk, soy, corn
Hope that helps!
