Kellogg's™ Gluten Free Rice Krispies®

In order to be 100% gluten free you have to pay attention to hidden ingredients. This is crucial when you have celiac disease. I am so surprised by how many stories I have heard about people having celiac disease and they still eat gluten, whether it is on purpose or not.

Malt flavor is an ingredient some may overlook. Malt flavor comes from barley. Kellogg's™ Rice Krispies® Cereal has 'malt flavor,' so it is not gluten free. However, they make a gluten free version of the original cereal that is made in a separate facility. When my mom and I were first diagnosed with celiac disease, the gluten free version did not exist. We were so excited to enjoy the cereal again. We love making Rice Krispie Treats® for family gatherings and parties. My husband says he favors the gluten free version over the original.
 

Hopefully one day Kellogg's™ will make the Rice Krispies Treats® that are pre-made and the  Rice Krispies Treats® Cereal in a gluten free version. You may have to try different stores to see if they carry the gluten free cereal. I have only been able to find it at Target.
